The park today

Manes Field is a multipurpose grass field located behind CET Elementary School, adjacent to Firefighters Memorial Field, and is accessed from the school property — from the school parking lot, the field is down the hill. The village lists it for soccer and lacrosse; Croton AYSO, the Croton-Harmon school district, and Croton Little League all use the field. Limited parking for vehicles with disability plates or permits is available at the end of Alexander Lane.

History

In April 2022 the village dedicated the ball field behind Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School in honor of David J. Manes, a lifelong Croton-on-Hudson resident who served as both a coach and a manager of Croton's championship Little League team, in recognition of his significant impact on youth baseball in the village. Manes was also an accomplished amateur golfer, winning the club championship at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough eight times.

In June 2024 the Board of Trustees adopted a bond resolution (Resolution 111-2024) authorizing construction of improvements to Manes Field at a maximum estimated cost of $51,000, financed by serial bonds and subject to permissive referendum.
