Parks
All parks
Every park, preserve and sanctuary in and around the village, with a report on each: what it is, how to get in, what it costs, and what happened there.
-
Black Rock Park
Village park on the banks of the Croton River off Quaker Bridge Road, with picnic areas, riverbank fishing, bocce courts and a fenced dog park. A Croton Recreation Photo ID is required, and swimming in the river here is prohibited.
-
Brinton Brook Sanctuary
Saw Mill River Audubon's largest sanctuary: 156 acres and more than four miles of blazed trails around a pond, off Route 9A just north of the village, linked to the village trail system by the Highland and Coyote trails.
-
Brook Street Park
Seeded as a small upper-village park on Brook Street, but no park by this name appears in any village park inventory. Recent Brook Street board actions concern a small municipal parking lot and a drainage-improvement project, not a park; existence as a distinct park is unverified.
-
CET Woods Trails
Informal, unmarked paths through the wooded village-owned open space between Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School and the Croton River ravine — what the village trails guide calls the Croton Gorge Area.
-
Croton Dog Park
The village's only off-leash dog park: a fenced run with a dog agility course inside Black Rock Park, on the Croton River off Quaker Bridge Road. Open to village residents holding a free dog park permit (Recreation Photo ID plus village dog license required).
-
Croton Gorge Park
97-acre Westchester County park at the base of the New Croton Dam, completed in 1906. Picnic grounds, fishing on the Croton River, a playground, winter sledding, and the northern trailhead of the 26.2-mile Old Croton Aqueduct trail.
-
Croton Landing Park
30-acre village park on a remediated industrial waterfront, with over a mile of Hudson River shoreline. Its paved path is part of the Westchester RiverWalk and holds the tri-municipal 9/11 memorial "Reaching Through the Shadow." Open to all; no resident permit required.
-
Croton Point Park
508-acre Westchester County park on a Hudson River peninsula, with a seasonal swimming beach, campground, nature center and trails. Holds 7,000-year-old oyster-shell middens, 19th-century Underhill wine cellars, and a capped former county landfill now managed as grassland.
-
Croton River Trails
Unmarked, unmaintained paths along the lower Croton River linking informal swimming and fishing spots such as Mayo's Landing and Paradise Island. There are no lifeguards; dam releases can raise the current within minutes, and swimmers have drowned here.
-
Dobbs Park
Village park off Maple Street in the heart of Croton, named for Little League volunteer Madeline Dobbs and her husband Ernest. Its Little League field, basketball court and playground were all rebuilt in a 2025–26 renovation part-funded by a federal Community Development Block Grant.
-
Duck Pond Park
Village park on Bungalow Road with a playground, baseball field and basketball court beside a small pond that shelters ducks and other wildlife and serves as the village's ice-skating spot in winter. Croton Recreation Photo ID required.
-
Echo Canoe Launch
Village boat launch at 20 Veterans Plaza, at the south end of the Croton-Harmon station area: access to the Croton and Hudson rivers for canoes, kayaks and small motorized boats, no permit required. No residential restrictions.
-
Firefighters Field
Lighted village softball and Little League field at the end of Gerstein Street, behind Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School. The Croton-Harmon school district uses it as a home field for softball under an intermunicipal agreement and helps maintain it each spring.
-
Gouveia Park
Hilltop village park off Albany Post Road on the former Gouveia property, given to the village under Laurel Gouveia's will with a $1 million endowment. Lawns, gardens and Hudson River views; the house is now the Ann Gallelli REAL Space community facility.

A quiet 29-acre Saw Mill River Audubon sanctuary on a woodland ridge overlooking the Hudson, between Furnace Dock Road and Briggs Lane, with three short blazed trails and nesting great horned owls.
-
Half Moon Bay Esplanade
Waterfront walkway along the Hudson at the Half Moon Bay condominiums and marina, near the Croton River mouth. A public-access link in the Westchester RiverWalk chain, it joins Croton-Harmon station and Croton Point Avenue to Senasqua Park and, via the 2017 Elliott Way boardwalk, Croton Landing.
-
Harrison Street Park
Small village playground park (about a third of an acre) at the corner of Harrison Street and Grand Street (Route 129), with paved pathways, benches and a play area for young children. Croton Recreation Photo ID required.
-
Jane E. Lytle Memorial Arboretum
A roughly 22-acre village-owned nature preserve of woods, streams and a central wetland swamp off Fox Lane, run by the nonprofit Croton Arboretum and Sanctuary, Inc., with a loop trail and a quarter-mile wheelchair-accessible boardwalk with a gazebo.
-
Kaplan's Pond
Village-owned 8.5-acre natural area at Lounsbury Road and Giglio Court: a small dammed pond and wetland with a 0.2-mile path, linked to the Mount Airy trail network by Kaplan's Pond Trail.
-

-
Paradise Island
Undeveloped, wooded 22-acre island in the lower Croton River, owned by Westchester County. No facilities and no bridge — reached by canoe or kayak.
-
Salt Hill State Forest
A 269.7-acre DEC state forest off Route 129 east of the village, in the Town of Cortlandt: unmarked woods-road trails lead from a small Route 129 pull-off past Blue Lake to the 699-foot summit of Salt Hill and the ruins of a 1950s fire tower.
-
Senasqua Park
Riverfront village park at 2 Elliott Way with picnic groves, a bathhouse, playground, volleyball court, reservable pavilion and the village boat basin (moorings and launch ramp). Residents-only in season; the name preserves a Kitchawanc place-name recorded in a 1682 deed.
-
Silver Lake Park
The village swimming beach on the Croton River, where a low dam forms a guarded summer swimming area open to Croton village and school-district residents with a Recreation Photo ID. Daily fees or season permits; the park closes when river currents run high.

Pocket park off Old Post Road South next to the Merwin parking lot, behind Holy Name of Mary Church: a lawn, walking path, stone stage, picnic tables and a historic Croton River grist-mill millstone. Site of village gatherings including the annual holiday tree and menorah lightings.
